Tasting Room Host

Brys Estate winery is seeking a friendly, energetic, and experienced candidate to welcome wine club members and guests to our beautiful tasting room in a positive and welcoming manner, utilize our reservation system (TOCK) to manage seating, maintain the flow of service, and support tasting room management and fellow staff members as needed. Weekends and some holidays required. 

Full to part time seasonal position

$14 per hour base, plus gratuities
[Typical take home equates to $25-30 per hour]

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Embody the hospitality, charm and professionalism of our organization
  • Manage initial guest interaction; welcoming guests & visitors to the winery and setting the tone for their experience
  • Operate and iPad and utilize reservation software to manage seating arrangements and flow of service
  • Provide a brief summary of the winery and provide direction appropriately
  • Answer questions about services options, menu items, and general winery facts
  • Help control crowds and lines
  • Assist management with the effective and professional enforcement of various winery policies regarding guest use of the facility
  • Assist with all elements of winery and private event set up, execution, and break-down as instructed by the tasting room management team
  • Provide guest assistance as necessary throughout the winery

  • Ability to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly and ensure a smooth service operation

  • Consistency in displaying a positive, unflappable, can-do attitude 
  • Self-starter mentality; able to work quickly and efficiently with limited direction
  • Ability to identify needs of the business and implement solutions effectively
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of operating an iPad


  • Must be available to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday
    Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate seasonal needs and winery events
  • High volume restaurant experience preferred

Tasting Room Staff Member

We are looking for all-star guest service providers to join our team!
Full and part-time positions available immediately through end of November, possibly beyond.

Ideal candidates will have the ability to represent the Brys organization in a professional manner, intelligently share information about our wines and services, appropriately encourage sales, and have the desire to help create unforgettable guest experiences

Previous service experience is preferred. Previous wine knowledge is helpful but not required.

Compensation: $11 per hour, plus gratuities (typical take home summer 2021 has been $20 - 25 per hour)

At this time, possible full or part-time work positions include:

  • Table Server
  • Table Busser
  • Barback (for Upper Deck or Lawn Bar service)
  • Retail & Bottle Sales
  • Kitchen Staff (we are not a full-service restaurant; food items include cheese & charcuterie boards)

Possible duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Serve guests seated at tables on the Upper Deck or inside the tasting room
  • Provide water service to tables and bus guest areas (remove glassware and finished cheese boards, clean and sanitize tables and chairs after guest use, etc.)
  • Pour wine for servers or guests on the Upper Deck, at the Lawn Bar, or inside the tasting room
  • Operate our POS system using an iPad, and handle cash and credit card sales
  • Answer guest questions about our wines, service options, sales/promotions, Secret Garden property, Wine Club, special events, and more
  • Assist with the opening and closing procedures, and ongoing tasting room, Upper Deck and Lawn Bar maintenance, and cleanliness (Kitchen Staff)
  • Prepare food items for cheese boards, as well as craft and deliver cheese boards to guests, clean dishware, and assist with glassware polishing
  • Working weekends and some summer  holidays

Ideal candidates will possess the ability to:

  • Work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment (hustle!)
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance in accordance with dress code
  • Engage in friendly, courteous guest interactions
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and a diverse mix of guests
  • Operate iPads and have knowledge of basic computer functions
  • Stand for the entirety of their work shift
  • Lift, load, and carry 50lbs (case of wine)
  • Carry out written and oral instructions from tasting room management and supervisors
  • Share general tourism information of the surrounding area
